There was an unfathomable amount of cycling-related gear and equipment on show at Eurobike this year but Eurobike, the world's largest bike expo, takes place in Germany. Luckily the new products debuted by our favourite brands will be on display at this week's Cycle Show.
Here are the top things to seek out at this year's show at NEC, Birmingham (22–24 September).
Campagnolo Hydraulic Groupsets and Disc Brakes
Campagnolo were the last of the big groupset brands to launch a disc brake groupset. The Cycle Show is one of the first places they'll have the ranges on show to the public. The biggest news is that Campagnolo claims its new road disc brakes stop faster than Shimano and SRAM in the dry and the wet, with less hand force required.
There is also the new groupset from Campagnolo. Centaur has been reintroduced at Campagnolo’s entry level, to compete directly with 105. It comes in matt black but also silver to preserve a classic aesthetic, but one with 11-speed functionality.
Head to stand D13, opposite Condor to take a look.
Knitted Shoes
Nike and others have sold countless athletic shoes in recent years with lightweight knit uppers, and Giro and Fizik have taken notice. Giro launched three shoes with Xnetic Knit.
Fizik released the Infinito R1 (pictured) in two distinct flavours. The first uses the standard Microtex material. But the real story is in the knitted version. Fizik say their knit is developed with a rigid exoskeleton to add more support.
You can decide for yourself; see Fizik on stand G81 and Giro on stand H45.
The Illustrated Condor Lavoro
We've borrowed back the illustrated Lavoro from owner, Alec Briggs, just for the Cycle Show. Get up close to the exquisitely detailed, hand-painted frame that Condor made for the winner of this year's Nocturne Fixed Gear Criterium.
You'll find us on stand G101.
Simon Warren & Vicenzo Nibali
There are a host of writers, pro cyclists and stars speaking on the Cycle Show stage. We're most looking forward to hearing from author of 100 Climbs, Simon Warren, on Friday 22 September, and meeting Grand Tour winner, Vincenzo Nibali, who'll be on stage on Sunday 24 September, and meeting fans on the FSA stand, too.
Watch the World Championships at the Tour of Britain Bar
Wind, rain and rainbows will be on tap in Bergen. Watch the 2017 World Road Race Championships live on Saturday and Sunday on the big screen at the Tour of Britain bar.
The Tour of Britain bar will have drinks and food available throughout the Cycle Show. The women's will be live from 13.00–17.00 on Saturday 23 September, and the men's race on the same time on Sunday.
Giro Women's Range
Giro is investing heavily in its women’s line-up to make sure it is as comprehensive as it’s mens. The effort invested really shows in the women-specific Synthe and Empire shoes: their design is stunning.
You'll find Giro on stand H45.
