Mavic Cosmic Ultimate 45 UST Disc Wheelset
As the name suggests, the Mavic Cosmic Ultimate wheels are the pinnacle of performance. Incredibly light, yet stiff and aerodynamic, they'e packed with advanced technology to satisfy the needs of both amateur and professional road racers. Each 45mm deep carbon rim uses 71 carbon fibre pieces and is painstakingly handbuilt with the highest attention to detail. A 19mm internal rim width is perfect for 25mm tyres, and lightweight, unidirectional carbon fibre spokes link one side of the rim directly to the other: as such, there are just ten spokes per wheel. This R2R technology further increases stiffness. Engagement is instant thanks to an ID360 freewheel and these wheels are highly capable when climbing, descending or sprinting on the flats. Setting up tubeless is particularly simple thanks to Fore carbon technology, eliminating the need for rim tape. These wheels are designed, engineered and patented by Mavic in Annecy, France, and are 100% handmade in Mavic's European carbon factory.
Fore carbon technology
During the carbon moulding process, metal inserts are embedded and secure the spokes to the rim, without piercing the upper bridge. Fore technology eliminates the need for rim tape in a tubeless setup, with a perfect seal created every time.
Instant Drive 360 freewheel
A super light and efficient freewheel system that's versatile enough for a range of setups. Engagement is almost instant and a large contactless rubber seal reduces friction for a buttery smooth feel.
QRM auto bearings
Mavic's auto bearing preload hub technology keeps the wheels spinning smoothly without play for longer. These double-sealed bearings maximise durability, keeping maintenance to a minimum throughout the wheel's lifetime.
R2R carbon spoke technology
Rim-to-rim (R2R) carbon spokes run from one side of the rim to the other, through the hub. They're lighter, stronger and stiffer than traditional spokes laced from hub to rim and eliminate the need to attach the spokes at the hub.
