How? Arms, legs and calves are cylindrical and are prone to drag. Strategic ribbing on sleeves or socks alters how air flows over these shapes, making them more aerodynamically efficient especially at high speeds. When air flows over a surface (like your skin), it forms a boundary layer and a thin layer of air that sticks close to the surface. On smooth surfaces, this layer can separate too early, causing drag. A ribbed fabric disrupts this layer just enough to keep the flow attached longer. This delays flow separation and reduces the turbulent air and aerodynamic drag.
Combining wind-cheating performance with all-day ride comfort, the mitts feature a cuff that sits just below the wrist, eliminating bunching, friction with your skin, and reducing drag at the critical junction at your wrist and handlebar hoods.
On the palm you'll find a soft synthetic suede material with silicone dots for grip, as well as padding across the ulnar nerve on the plam and the underneath of the knuckles.
