Made in Italy: The Guide to Miche Wheels

While our heritage started in London, for a number of decades we've been crafting by hand in Italy. That shared appreciation for Italian engineering is why we stock Miche.

Founded in Treviso in 1919, Miche keeps design, carbon layup and hub machining strictly in-house. Today, their wheels are proven at the highest level of world-tour racing and off-road events — built for and tested by pro teams including Groupama-FDJ and The Grip Élite Gravel Team.

What Does “RD” Mean?

When browsing the range, you will notice certain models feature “RD” in the product name. RD stands for Racing Division: these are Miche’s top-tier, race-spec wheelsets. At the heart of every RD wheelset is a race-tuned hub shell that’s precision-machined in Treviso.

Ceramic Bearings

All RD-designated wheels come equipped with ultra-low-friction CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings for maximum watt savings, reduced drag, and exceptional longevity under heavy load. This is similar to Campagnolo’s Bora Ultra wheelsets where their CULT ceramic bearings are used in the hubs to elevate the wheel further.

Ergal 7075 T6 Alloy Shell

The shell is machined from Ergal (aircraft-grade 7075 aluminum) and heat-treated to T6 hardness. This creates an ultra-light, flex-free hub shell that keeps internal bearings perfectly aligned under heavy sprinting torque.

Titanium for ultimate resistance

The internal freehub drive mechanism uses a lightweight Titanium carrier to hold the pawls. Titanium withstands extreme pedaling force without deforming or notching, delivering instant, crisp power transfer when you drive down on the pedals.

Range Overview: Find your match

Deva RD (premium road race)

The Deva RD is Miche's newest, top-level wheel. It was developed with input from the Groupama-FDJ World Tour team, uses carbon spokes, CeramicSpeed bearings, aerospace hubs and a T700/T800/T1000 carbon construction.
It's this mixed carbon layout that provides stiffness without feeling harsh. The 52mm version is only about 1,300g.

The 52 has a 23mm internal width and is designed around 28–38mm tyres. "A breathtaking mix of ultra-light carbon spoke technology, CeramicSpeed smoothness, and relentless high-speed aero performance." - Cyclingnews

Our Verdict: If budget isn't the main consideration and you're building a high-end race bike, Deva RD is the one at the top of the Miche hierarchy.

Kleos RD (serious road race performance)

The Kleos RD range sits just below Deva. They use the same CeramicSpeed hub bearings, aerospace materials and Titanium carrier but the carbon spokes are swapped for alloy. This is the race-focused range with two rim options.

Kleos RD 36
For climbing and mountainous racing.

Use them for:

  • Mountainous sportives
  • Riders who prefer low weight
  • Sharp accelerations

Kleos RD 50 Probably the sweet spot of the RD range. It's designed for racing conditions where you want a combination of aero performance, weight and handling. The 50 uses Miche's aero-focused hub/spoke arrangement and CeramicSpeed bearings. The claimed weight is 1,455g.

Use them for:

  • Road racing Fast club rides
  • Sportives Rolling terrain
  • General high-performance road riding

Miche Kleos (the sensible, high-performance choice)

The Kleos range is significantly cheaper than its RD counterpart. Whilst you don’t get the CeramicSpeed bearings, the rims uses T700 carbon and the new generation has a 23mm internal width on the 42/50, designed around modern wider tyres.

Kleos 42

Choose this if you:

  • Live somewhere hilly
  • Like climbing
  • Want a responsive wheel
  • Ride in windy conditions
  • Want one wheelset for almost everything

Kleos 50
Probably the best general-purpose carbon wheels. If you are looking to make your bike ride faster but you don’t want to race competitively, the Kleos 50 is aero enough for fast riding, but doesn't go to an extreme depth.

Choose this if you:

  • Live somewhere flat or rolling
  • Want a responsive wheel
  • There are unlikely to be cross winds from very flat open terrain
  • Want a wheelset for everything

Asfalto (your first carbon wheelset)

The Asfalto is a 45mm deep carbon wheel with a 22mm internal rim width. It is built tough to handle year-round UK road conditions without giving up the snappy feel of a performance carbon hoop. It is ideal for someone going from a factory spec alloy wheel that was supplied with their off the shelf road bike and will be a significant weight saving, too. Whilst it isn’t as light as Kleos or Deva RD options it will provide aero advantage over a shallow depth wheel and a beneficial upgrade over an aluminium wheelset.

Choose this if:

  • You are looking to upgrade from entry level aluminium wheels
  • First carbon-wheel buyer
  • Casual sportive rider
  • Fast recreational rider
  • You have a strict budget

Miche Gravel & Off Road Wheelsets: Graff & Sterrato

Purpose-built, off-road wheels designed to support tyre widths from 35mm to 50mm+.

Graff Aero 48: Deep-section aero gravel, built for fast gravel racing where maintaining 30+ km/h over open fire roads is key.

Choose this if:

  • You want a performance gravel wheel
  • You want to ride only tubeless
  • You want an aero wheel
  • You want to save weight

Sterrato: Inspired by the unpaved roads of Tuscany, reinforced rim walls absorb heavy trail impacts, rock strikes, and bike-packing luggage. This is an all-rounder wheelset and is ideal for gravel riders upgrading but not looking for an out and out race wheel.

Choose this if:

  • You want to combine gravel and road riding
  • You will run tubeless or clincher set up
  • Ride on hardpack or gravel
  • For light adventure riding

Inside Miche: Miche Tech Centre Engineering

Miche’s dedicated Tech Centre in Treviso engineers every component from scratch. Key technical highlights engineered into the range include:

CFD-Optimized Aerodynamics:
Rim profiles are sculpted using Computational Fluid Dynamics to minimise drag at varying yaw angles while maintaining rock-solid crosswind stability. What this means is wind rarely hits head-on. By shaping the rim to slice through angled crosswinds, this design holds your speed with less effort while stopping side gusts from snatching at your handlebars. The result is total steering confidence, especially with the Kleo 42, 50 and Deva 52 wheels, fewer wasted watts, and a deep-section carbon profile you can comfortably run as your daily setup.

Modern Wide Rim Beds (WWR):
Designed around wider tubeless tyre volumes, the wheels are optimised to reduce rolling resistance and improve cornering grip.

Hubs machined on site:
Miche makes their hubs in Treviso. They do this to guarantee they are precise and fit exactly with their components such as the Titanium Carrier in RD hubs.

Miche also created a special process for anodising AL 7075 aluminium alloy. Known as T6, it refers to the heat-treatment process that bakes the metal to its maximum hardness.

On-site testing:
Once Miche has made a prototype using 3D printing and molding, they test it, getting immediate feedback on their technologies.
