What is the great state of Colorado known for? Mountains. When it comes to the cycling world, you might think the great European ranges like the Alps and Pyrenees make the Rockies seem a bit insignificant. Not so. This 38th state has its own place in the history of cycling.
In fact, the history of American stage races dates back to the 1970s and Colorado’s Red Zinger Bicycle Classic, a mountainous event that quickly achieved international renown as one of the sport’s most difficult. Racing returned to Colorado a few years ago in the form of the USA Pro Challenge and it has quickly established itself just like the Red Zinger Bicycle Classic.
We are delighted that our pro team have received a wild card entry to the race thanks to their hard work in races like the Tour de Korea. John Herety's eight man team includes five riders aged 23 or under. The aim is to help promising riders gain experience in tough stage races and help develop young talent in the sport the race which takes place over seven stage in Colorado from the 18th-24th August.
