2015 is the tenth season that Condor have supported a UCI Continental cycling team marking a significant milestone for the team who also recieved a re-boot to their image this season. Widely known as the 'Men in Black' the team was supplied by performance roadwear manufacturer Rapha before they handed the baton over to historic French brand Mavic. With the UK's most prolific domestic team manager of the past decade John Herety at the helm, the JLT Condor Cycling Team will be aiming to be the countries most professional and successful domestic based UCI Continental team in 2015.
JLT and Condor have both previously enjoyed partnerships with John Herety's teams, as co-sponsors of the Rapha Condor JLT team in 2013-14. In the past two seasons alone Herety's riders took overall wins in the Tour Series, the Tour of Korea, the Tour du Loire et Cher, the East Midlands CiCLE Classic and the Beaumont Trophy, as well as stage wins in prestigious international events such as the Tour of Normandy and the Mzansi Tour in South Africa.
In 2015 the team boasts talents of the likes of double Olympic and Multiple World Champion Ed Clancy, former National Road Race Champion and Tour of Britain King of the Mountains, Kristian House and Graham Briggs, the 2011 National Criterium Champion and winner of ten races in 2014.
These well-known figures will be supported by a core team of young riders who have been chosen for their potential to be competitive at the highest levels of racing on the domestic and UCI continental calendars, or have achieved success at these levels already. International racing has always played an important part in the domestic successes and development philosophy of John Herety's teams, in 2015 JLT Condor will race a program aimed at increasing international recognition as well as victories on home soil.
The team is founded on the principals of seeking to achieve the best possible results while always maintaining and displaying the highest levels of professionalism in all levels of cycling competition.
The JLT Group's involvement marks the second time that the team has attracted a major international company to back the sport in the UK, after a successful three year partnership with Sharp saw the electronics manufacturer increase its sponsorship of professional cycling to World Tour level.
The Jardine Lloyd Thompson group of Insurance Brokers is one of the largest of its type in the world and their ethos of offering a distinctive choice to their clients and partners through their combination of independence and specialism is something that relates strongly to the identity of the Rapha Condor team and the brands that it represents.
Charlie Pearch, a senior partner at JLT, commented: "JLT is delighted to continue its support of the UK's leading domestic cycling team in partnership with Condor, who are an iconic part of British cycling's heritage. We are also thrilled that Mavic, a company with a hugely respected reputation in the industry and with connections to the highest echelons of the sport, has chosen our sponsored team as a clothing and equipment partner. It speaks volumes for the reputation of the team."
Mavic celebrated its 125th anniversary this year and for the French company the move to partner with an established team is an important one. "We are happy that Team JLT Condor gives its whole trust to the Mavic Head-to-Toe helmet-apparel-footwear range for the coming year", said François-Xavier Blanc, Global Head of the Brand. "We have chosen to partner with JLT Condor for 2015 and 2016 season because of their innovative approach to being accessible by cycling fans."
"The new partnership will allow Mavic to develop further our striking new technologies designed to improve performance both by reducing aerodynamic drag and helping the athletes to perform in all weather conditions."
