Ben's 1950s Condor bike for London Nocturne

The Jupiter London Nocturne is back again for an incredible eighth year. The award-winning cycling festival takes place on the streets of the iconic Smithfield Market from 4pm on Saturday 7th June the 2014 and its free to attend!

Inspired by the night-time races that take over towns on the continent, Nocturne is all about a festival atmosphere: one eye on the bikes, the other on the beer tent. Nearby roads are closed off to make a 1km circuit. Local restaurants and bars spill out on to the pavement with barbecues and craft beer stands.

Before the elite race takes place there will be a host of exciting events to wow the crowd including the prestigious folding bike race, penny farthing race, a track crit and elite women's race.

A new event to the line up is the Brooks Retro Bike Criterium. It is a unique event with some special rules; competitors must use a bike that is made before 1986; have brake cables that are visible, use toe clips and gear shifter must not part of the brake levers.

Our Lead Designer Ben Spurrier has been preparing a Condor steed to take part in the event. He'll take to the streets of Smithfield Market dressed in an original inchy wool made Condor-Mackeson jersey. His bike is a 1952 Condor which features the No.1 Hand Cut lug pattern, bike specifics and gallery are below. You can catch Ben taking part in the criterium at 19.15 on Saturday, he's only got five gears his easiest gear being 46-24, we hope you'll cheer him on!

  • Fleur de Lis flat fork crown
  • Mafac brakes
  • Original Brooks leather saddle
  • Campagnolo Gran Sport rear derailleur (5 speed)
