About this model
Roll smooth, roll fast, roll high. The Acciaio is a classic steel road frame that brings together the glorious ride of steel, the clean lines of low profile tubing, and the performance of a modern machine. At home on warm Tarmac, it dances through dappled sunlight and delivers the best of the outdoors as you whoosh through winding lanes.
The new Acciaio has been a long time in the making. The latest version was created over several seasons in collaboration with Italian steel manufacturer, Columbus. We use custom-formed, heat-treated Columbus Spirit tubes, paired with Columbus Max tubing for the seat stays, to deliver not just a lighter frame, but a balanced ride that oozes fun without losing the comfort factor that has garnered so many Acciaio fans.
Up front is a new full carbon monocoque fork. Its one piece construction sheds weight and keeps the handling feeling nimble as you corner at speed. The Acciaio can run up to 28mm wide tyres, and riders who favour rim brakes can rejoice as this frame is designed for calliper brakes.
Geometry
The geometry of a frame refers to the lengths and angles of its tubes. It directly affects the way you ride and the way the bike handles. Condor's geometries are tried and tested, and adjusted between our models to suit their style.

Our reviews speak for themselves

Custom selected and formed Columbus steel
We use a mix of Columbus triple-butted steel tubes to achieve the perfect balance of performance and comfort. The custom rolled top tube is made from Spirit and ovalised for an improved strength-to-weight ratio. The seat stays use Columbus Max, an elliptical shaped tube, orientated according to the specific direction of stress to maximise comfort.

Expertly tig welded
Tig welding is an art. The welds on our Acciaio are impossibly neat and brilliantly finished. This means that minimum weight is added through the welding process, but ensures the join is strong. We are proud not only to make the Acciaio in Italy, but to use material that is made a handful of miles away by Columbus.

Race engineered carbon fork
We completely redesigned our full carbon monoccoque fork to reduce the weight as well as provide more clearance for wider tyres. The straight fork legs transfer a better road feel, whilst the high grade carbon fibre takes away the buzz of rough road surfaces that can zap energy.

BSA Bottom Bracket
Condor frames feature a BSA bottom bracket shell. It's an overlooked part of the frame, but a very important one. The lowly bottom bracket doesn’t get much attention, and if it's working properly, that's the way it should be — smooth and silent. BSA Bottom Bracket is a universal system preferred by Shimano and Campagnolo.

Clearance for 28mm tyres
The frame and fork have the clearance for all 28mm width road tyres without needing to use specialist or deep drop style caliper brakes. The wider clearance allows for more versatility and compliance ideal for riders who ride in all weathers, are riding over cobbled surfaces or ultra long distances.

Engraved Details
We engrave and hand paint the headtube of the Acciaio for a classic look despite the frames performance and fast endurance capabilities.

Rust inhibiting treatment
After being welded, filed and cleaned, our steel frames are dipped in a rust inhibiting treatment. The treatment provides a degree of protection, particularly inside the frame, against corrosion caused by acidic substances (including water). Read more
